Perimenopause to Postmenopause

What is menopause and how does this affect my health and fitness? Menopause is a natural life stage which is defined by not having a period for 12 consecutive months. Perimenopause is the phase before where our hormones fluctuate.

The changes we experience during this phase of our lives can feel daunting and like we don’t have control. Luckily, there is something we can do about it; through education we can take back control using exercise, nutrition and lifestyle approaches to be strong, achieve your goals and feel good whilst do it.

Nerthus Personal Training can support you through programmes that are specific to menopause, and how you are experiencing symptoms, through evidence-based practices that truly fit in with your life - there’s no copy and paste approach. We will look at the full picture of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.

The advice I give you is the advice I am following myself as I have started to experience perimenopause.

How can you help me?

I’ve been training for a while, can personal training support me?

Yes! I can design your programme to keep you en-route to your goals, using your experience, with the right approach to your body’s needs.

I’m new to exercise, can I still train with you?

Absolutely, the right time to start is always now. Training is always tailored to your level of experience and progresses sustainably.

How can exercise improve my health and quality of life during this time ? Exercise can give our body the stimulus it needs to drive physiological processes to increase bone density, build muscle mass, grow our strength and improve coordination.

Managing Menopause through Nutrition and Lifestyle

During perimenopause and menopause, it is important to consider how we support ourselves through nutrition and lifestyle, as well as exercise. At this time our bodies experience increased stress and inflammatory responses which affects our recovery, as well as greater sleep disturbance and stress caused by changing hormones.

Nerthus Personal training can help you with understanding your nutrition and lifestyle needs and applying truly actionable changes that have the most benefit for your symptoms.
